Placa de arcade é uma (ou um grupo de) placa(s) de circuitos impressos usados como base para vários jogos arcade com requisitos de sistema semelhantes.

Os primeiros sistemas para arcade incorporavam o jogo diretamente na placa de sistema, o que reduzia o preço da máquina completa de jogo, mas forçava os operadores de jogos a comprarem sistemas completos para cada novo jogo.

Os jogos seguintes, como os produzidos para os sistemas Neo-Geo da SNK, CPS-2 da Capcom e NAOMI da Sega, separaram a placa de sistema do jogo em si, semelhante ao que acontece nos console(a)s de videogames que utilizam cartuchos. Este método beneficiou tanto os fabricantes quanto os seus clientes, estes precisavam comprar a placa de sistema apenas uma vez, e poderiam trocar de jogos por uma fração do custo e esforço; os fabricantes por sua vez, precisavam fabricar menos placas de sistema - consideravelmente mais complexas de se produzir, e mais placas de jogos - que consistiam basicamente em módulos de memória.

A facilidade em se trocar de jogos dentro de um mesmo sistema levou indiretamente a uma fidelidade às fabricantes, já que os usuários que possuiam determinado jogo tendiam a comprar sua versão mais nova ou um similar do mesmo fabricante a gastar cerca de cinco vezes mais para comprar outro kit de jogo e sistema.
